Sunday, June 19 is Father’s Day, and my girls and I have started to put together a fun-filled day for my husband. I won’t reveal any secrets here (he is a subscriber after all), but it’s safe to say that some family time, relaxation and beer will be involved.

We’re certainly not alone in our scheming. Father’s Day spending is expected to reach $11.1 billion nationally this year, up from $9.4 billion in 2010, with the average national consumer planning to spend $107 on the dads in their lives.

In our neck of the woods, spending will likely follow the national trend. But the gifts will be all over the map, just like the on-the-go dads in our market. We’ll buy plenty of ties – those that spruce up a suit as well as those that can be used fly fishing or to strap gear to the car and/or kayak.

We’ll treat our fathers, husbands, brothers and friends to meals out, sporting events, plays, concerts and entry fees to triathlons.

We’ll hunt down their favorite gadgets, grilling implements and power tools. We’ll send cards, books, CDs and pictures. And if we can’t quite decide, we’ll splurge on a gift card to their favorite store.

If your company caters to men, it’s a prime destination for Father’s Day shopping. Promote your wares to the dads who patronize your business and the families who love them with our market’s No. 1 advertising source, the Camera. Call 303.473.1400 to reserve your space today.
