The Camera has been a strong supporter of Community Food Share (CFS) for decades. In the 2010-2011 fiscal year alone, the nonprofit organization distributed more than 7 million meals to those in need. Our community and its needs have grown exponentially over the years, and CFS has continually risen to the challenge.

The organization is now asking our community to rise to the challenge as well.

CFS has received a commitment of $2.5 million from an anonymous donor to support the purchase and renovation of its new facility in Louisville. The donor has challenged CFS to raise $1 million by year-end. The vision of the donor is to enable CFS to pay off a $3.5 million bridge loan, allowing the organization to operate debt free and to direct resources to increased food procurement and distribution.

It’s an exciting time for CFS. The new facility is triple the size of its current one, which means CFS will be able to house more fresh produce and frozen food, and to provide more comprehensive services to its clients.

We hope that you can help CFS meet the $1 million challenge goal and secure the $2.5 million donation.
