No wthrough November 21, we invite you to participate in the 28th annual Let’s Bag Hunger food drive to benefit Community Food Share. The Camera has sponsored this event since it began, vigorously promoting the drive for food and donations.
Your support is needed now more than ever. Hunger in our community remains a real and serious problem. There are approximately 60,000 people in Boulder and Broomfield counties living at or below the poverty line used by the Food Stamp Program. Community Food Share has provided millions of meals since it started more than 30 years ago. In 2011, it distributed more than 7.5 million meals (1 meal = 1 pound of food).
A little giving goes a long way. All you have to do to make a difference in our community is fill a bag with store-bought, non-perishable food and bring it to one of the many drop-off locations in our community. The most needed items are canned meat/tuna, soup, canned meals/chili, pasta/pasta sauce, dry cereal, peanut butter and canned vegetables. Or make a monetary contribution at communityfoodshare.org.
Food and dollars donated to this drive will help Community Food Share restock its shelves and get food where it is needed most. Please fill and deliver a bag or make a donation by visiting communityfoodshare.org. Together, we can help bag hunger in our community.
