Boulder County Community Action Programs (CAP) organized the first Multicultural Awards Banquet in 1989 to honor diverse Boulder County residents who have made major contributions in the areas of art, business, community service, education, government, health, science, youth and partners (community members who promote social justice around race issues). That event marked the first county-wide recognition of the accomplishments of people of color. This year marks the 25th anniversary.

CAP invites you to join the celebration on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. at Longmont’s Best Western Plus Plaza Hotel. In recognition of its 25th anniversary, the Multicultural Awards theme of the year is “Honoring Our Elders.” Honorees Betty Ball, Dorothy Bustamante, Aya Medrud, Eleanor Montour, Lee and Beverly Springer, and Euvaldo Valdez were selected from a group of previous award winners who are 70 years and older and continue to contribute to the community.

The award winners and the work CAP does for our community is truly inspirational. The Camera is proud to be a perennial sponsor of the Multicultural Awards Banquet, and we hope to see you there.

Tickets are $65 and include the reception and dinner. To reserve your spot, contact Sheila Goetz at 303.441.3976 or sgoetz@bouldercounty.org by this Thursday.
