Following the 2013 Flood, a wide variety of Boulder County residents and organizations from all sectors of the county came together as BoCo Strong. The group was formed to champion community engagement and build community resilience. They learned from other communities hard hit by disaster the importance of engaging all parts of the community about how to rebuild stronger and better.

This week begins a series of commemorative and learning events designed to celebrate these communities, help us learn about floods and our waterways, and let citizens have a voice in planning the future.

Events are planned in Boulder, Lyons, Jamestown, Redstone and Sandstone.

Tonight’s “Lyons Flood History Exhibit: The What and Why of Forecasting a Record Flood Event”,  is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Boulder History Museum, 1206 Euclid Ave., Boulder.

See the full event calendar at BoCoStrong.org. Events are still being added throughout the month, so be sure to check in often.

The Camera is proud to sponsor this effort, and we recognize the work of many, many people whom we’ll never get to thank in person. Please plan to participate in one of these events if you can. And continue to remember those who are still impacted by the floods!
