For most of us, today is about taking time away from our labors:  relaxing, having fun with family and friends, going on one last camping trip before fall starts in earnest or hitting up holiday sales. But before we fire up the grill, pull on our hiking boots or head to the store, let’s pause to appreciate the true meaning of the day: Labor Day is a national tribute to the contributions of the American worker.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my hard-working team, who go above and beyond the call of duty every day. They make it happen around here.

We Boulder and Broomfield county residents are fortunate to be surrounded by countless dedicated, industrious people. Today’s the day to let our neighbors know we appreciate their efforts. Be sure to pat yourself on the back, too, for a job well done, another year of doing your part for the well-being of our community and country.

And wherever your travels take you, I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day.
