This holiday, we invite you to participate in the 26th annual Let’s Bag Hunger food drive to benefit Community Food Share. The Camera has sponsored this event from the beginning, distributing bags in our papers and vigorously promoting the drive, which runs from November 14 to 24.

Look for your bag inside this Sunday’s Camera and Enterprise.

All you have to do to make a difference in our community is fill your bag with nonperishable food and bring it to one of the many drop-off locations listed on the bag. Community Food Share has provided millions of meals since it started more than 29 years ago. In 2009, it distributed more than 6.6 million meals; this year its goal is to provide 7.25 million meals (1 meal = 1 pound).

Your support is needed now more than ever. There are approximately 50,000 people in Boulder and Broomfield counties living at or below the poverty line used by the Food

Stamp Program, which represents $27,500/year for a family of four. There are 12,000 children in the Free Lunch Program in the Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley school districts.

A little giving goes a long way. Food and dollars donated to this drive will help Community Food Share restock its shelves and get food where it is needed most. Please fill your bag or make a donation by calling 303. 652.FOOD or visiting www.communityfoodshare.org. Together, we can help bag hunger.
