Our friends at McGuckin Hardware are big CU Buffs fans (aren’t we all!), so I want to let you know that they will be hosting the University of Colorado’s mascot Ralphie in the store’s west parking lot this Sunday, Oct. 8 from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. It’s a celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the “Run Ralphie Run” football game tradition and a great chance for fans to meet Boulder’s famous bison (and her handlers).

McGuckin will be selling employee-designed 50th Anniversary Ralphie t-shirts, with all proceeds going to support the Ralphie program, which is almost exclusively funded through fan donations. According to the CU Buffs website, donations made to the program cover all expenses associated with the program including the feeding, care, and maintenance of Ralphie, as well as travel expenses, handler uniforms and gear, and any equipment of the team.

To support this, CU has set a goal to raise $50,000 by the end of the 2017 football season. Since the fundraiser was launched on the Fourth of July, 125 donors have contributed $12,295.

Maybe you can kick in a few bucks, too, while Ralphie kicks up her heels. Go Buffs! Go Ralphie!
