Each year the Daily Camera is proud to host Let’s Bag Hunger, the food drive for Community Food Share—and every year our readers generously surpass the food drive goal.

Our sister newspaper, the Times-Call, hosts the food drive for the Longmont community, and that event begins today and runs through the weekend. In keeping with best safety practices for our community, the drive this year will take place online.

In this time of unprecedented isolation, our connections are more important than ever. Julia McGee, Community Food Share director of communications, says, “In just one week earlier this month, more Coloradans filed for unemployment than in all of 2019 combined. With layoffs and closures continuing, we know that lost wages will be increasingly burdensome for those who live paycheck to paycheck.”

Now more than ever, Community Food Share needs our help to address the needs of food insecurity. I invite you to join the Longmont community in supporting this worthwhile organization that serves our entire county.

You can help keep our community fed by supporting this annual fund and food drive with a monetary gift or donate food online now at communityfoodshare.org/hunger.
