Content matters. I tell this to advertisers all the time. If you want your message to have the most impact, surround it with content that your audience values. It’s true for advertising within our print and online products, and it’s just as valid for our mobile content.

A recent mobile survey conducted by Prosper Mobile Insights found that 7-of-10 smartphone and tablet users pay attention to mobile ads while surfing the web, but not while gaming or watching television.

Mobile users’ attention spans for ads viewed on their devices differ depending on where the ads are placed, as it turns out. In the survey, they were most likely to pay full attention to ads when surfing the web on their devices and least likely when watching full TV episodes.
