The Camera is proud to sponsor 120 local nonprofit organizations with our time, talent and more than $2 million of support every year. Every organization is amazing in our eyes; we are awed by the work they do and the commitment with which they do it. But with Boulder Outdoor Cinema, it’s also personal.

Boulder Outdoor Cinema is the brainchild of a former Camera staffer and is operated by folks who still have day jobs at the Camera and Colorado Daily, including the talented Jeanine Fritz.

“To everyone at the Camera and Colorado Daily, thank you for your support over the years! We wouldn’t be here without you,” wrote Fritz. “Big love from everyone at Boulder Outdoor Cinema!”

We have nothing but love in return, a sentiment that is shared by our community.

Boulder Outdoor Cinema has been a local summer tradition since 1995, with hundreds of patrons attending screenings every Saturday night during the eight-week season. People bring blankets and lawn chairs to the lot behind the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and prepare to be entertained. The lively pre-show activities – short films, local musicians, trivia contests, food – give way to the main event – watching a classic film on an enormous outdoor screen – at dusk.
