November 10 marked the seventh annual Holy Smokes Clergy Cook-Off to benefit Flatirons Habitat for Humanity. Community members were invited to sample goodies prepared by local pastors and congregations, and then vote for their favorites with their dollars. The deliciousness and generosity that resulted exceeded all expectations.

Holy Smokes was a huge success, raising more than $9,000 to help Flatirons Habitat for Humanity build homes and serve hard-working families in our community. The Daily Camera and Broomfield Enterprise were proud to be sponsors.

“[This year’s] Holy Smokes was the best yet in its seven years, and it was only possible because of the incredible generosity of so many people, including the Broomfield Enterprise /Daily Camera,” wrote Flatirons Habitat for Humanity’s Catherine Ballance. “Approximately 300 people attended, thanks in large part to the advertising and fine articles in the Enterprise and Camera. At the event, folks saw even more of the company’s outstanding support.

“This is truly joyful news because of what it means for the families … a future in which they have safe, decent, affordable housing as the foundation for stability and growth.”
