Special Transit envisions a future where all people, regardless of age, health, disability, income or ethnicity or sexual orientation have easy access to the mobility options they need to enhance their independence and quality of life. The nonprofit organization was established in 1979 to coordinate an efficient, cost-effective and accessible transportation system for seniors and people with disabilities residing in Boulder County. Since that time, Special Transit has grown to support multiple counties and a number of life- changing programs.
As such, the Camera was proud to sponsor Special Transit’s 30th anniversary celebration featuring the stylings of the Young@Heart Chorus on November 13.
“We really got a boost in ticket sales from the ad that ran in the Friday magazine last Friday,” said Diana DeBrohun, development specialist at Special Transit, prior to the event. “We’d been selling four to six tickets per day; on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday we sold 20 tickets per day!”
The Camera is proud to support Special Transit as well as 120 other hard-working nonprofit organizations every year with our time, talent and more than $2 million of support.
