On Saturday, Aug. 13, 524 riders participated in the inaugural B Strong Ride. The fundraising event featured a 70-mile mountain loop, a 25-mile countryside loop and a short course for younger cyclists.

It was a huge success, raising more than $273,000 for the new inpatient cancer wing at Boulder Community Hospital and the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LIVESTRONG). It was such a success, in fact, that it outperformed every other LIVESTRONG partnered event this year.

B Strong Ride was presented with LIVESTRONG’s Top National Partnered Event award earlier this month by Lance Armstrong himself.

“This award is truly due to the outstanding support of community and all our fantastic sponsors who participated and contributed to these wonderful causes,” said Kevin Mulshine, co-founder of B Strong Ride.

The Daily Camera was proud to be one of those sponsors, donating advertising space to raise awareness and recruit participants. B Strong Ride is one of the many events we’ve supported this year. The Camera donates time, talent and more than $2 million of support to more than 120 hardworking local nonprofit organizations annually, and we are honored to do so.
