The Boulder Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is holding a gun buyback event on Saturday, Oct. 14 from noon to 2 p.m.
The event will take place at the Fellowship’s location at 1241 Ceres Drive in Lafayette.
Organizers will reward a value of $50 for your long gun or shotgun; $150 for your handgun or semi-automatic, and $250 for your assault or tactical gun. The rewards will be in the form of grocery store gift cards, while supplies last.
Gun buybacks help reduce the number of unwanted firearms in our communities and can help reduce the incidence of gun violence. A buyback provides a simple, efficient, and secure way to dispose of unwanted guns.
Here’s how it works:
• No reservation needed; just come to the church parking lot
• Arrive with your UNLOADED gun(s) in your trunk
• Remain in your vehicle
• Skilled personnel will remove your gun(s)
• Volunteers will use a metal chop saw to dismantle your gun(s)
• Leftover metal parts are transformed into garden tools
• You remain anonymous
• Homemade guns will be accepted and destroyed, but not compensated for
• No ammunition accepted
