Today’s students are avid consumers of information, with access to more news and information than any generation before.

With multiple sites and social media vying for their attention, it’s important that they can sort out the credible, reality-based information from the non-credible.

Newspapers in Education (NIE) is an international program that partners with local newspapers to foster student literacy and awareness. This includes the Boulder Daily Camera, Longmont Times-Call, Loveland Reporter-Herald and the Greeley Tribune.

Students will learn about technology, history, and current events that shape our world. The NIE provides “a textbook as fresh as each day’s news.”

An estimated more than 230,000 Colorado students are provided free online access to local newspapers, according to Dana Plewka, writing for Denver 7 News.

One of the easiest ways to access this content is through the Daily Camera’s NIE app, available for iOS and Android from their respective app stores.
