Tens of thousands of residents in Superior and Louisville were evacuated last month when fires ripped through Boulder County.
The YMCA of Northern Colorado opened its doors wide, welcoming in a diverse group of neighbors caught in a brutal reality and facing extreme loss, grief and fear.
Three hundred seniors, adults and children sought resources, support or shelter at the Arapahoe YMCA during and after the fires. Nearly 45 pets were sheltered and many people donated food, litter, and supplies.
This is not the first time our community has faced hardship. Nor is it the first time the Y has opened its doors wide in response to needs.
In 2021 alone the organization provided families in their preschool programs with more than $107,000 in financial assistance.
Your membership in the YMCA helps keep it strong.
